Tucson, Arizona
Tucson (TOO-sahn) is a metropolis of 900,000 located amid cactus forests, rolling hills, and craggy mountains.
National and state parks and forests ring the city. Tucson lies in the borderland, a region that blends the cultures of the United States and Mexico, and has a
long history of settlement by Native American peoples, Spanish explorers and "Anglo" frontiersmen. The weather is mild and dry nearly all the time.
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum provides an introduction to the nature of the region. Other museums and attractions include the University of Arizona Museum of Art,
Center for Creative Photography, Arizona State Museum, Flandrau Science Center and the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. For more information, see the web
site of the Metropolitan Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau, www.visittucson.org.
