Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society Online

posted Sep 18, 2014, 8:35 AM by Sheila Salo

Full text of the entire run of the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society, 1888 through 1999, is now available to all on the HathiTrust Digital Library, www.hathitrust.org.

HathiTrust is a digital repository for research libraries in the United States. Its partners currently number 25 university libraries.

The Journal issues are scanned from copies at the University of Michigan, Indiana University, University of California, and Princeton University. The Gypsy Lore Society has provided issues which were missing from those libraries.

The Gypsy Lore Society has created a Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society collection within the HathiTrust Digital Library. You can search the collection independently of the rest of the repository. To use the collection, go to the HathiTrust home page and click on “collections” on the top menu. In “find a collection” enter “Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society.”  Enter your search term in “search in this collection.” Select a result; the search term should appear in “search in this text.”

Paid-up members of the Gypsy Lore Society may consult full-text issues of Romani Studies from 2000 on at http://liverpool.metapress.com/content/122070/ . Members receive a new password each year.

Join the Gypsy Lore Society Zotero group to access an index to the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society and Romani Studies (continuing Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society).

The index was created by the Special Collections section of the University of Liverpool Library and by Dr. Carmen Hendershott, archivist of the Gypsy Lore Society. While some subject cataloguing is still incomplete, it is hoped that the index will be useful to researchers. Learn how to join the Zotero group on the public Gypsy Lore Society web site or on Members Only.
